Henry Hoovestal is an artist, welder, and metal worker as well as a navigator on oil tankers and other vessels. This exhibit features his unique hand-crafted stainless-steel sculptures as well as visually stimulating drawings that were made as a creative outlet while working on the ships away from his home and family. This methodical and hypnotic ink work helped him stay creative while underway and out to sea, until he was able to return to his loved ones. These drawings combined with his skill at metal sculpture will fill the Chessman Gallery from July 30th to September 12th, Thursday – Sunday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. An opening reception will be held in the Chessman Gallery on July 29th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served in addition to local acoustic band Hot Club of Beachtown performing in the gallery.
