Art Explorations Outreach

First launched in 2022, the Art Explorations Outreach program delivers visual art education and experiences into the classrooms of north Lincoln County students from 1st grade through 6th grade. Through this program, the Cultural Center brings a monthly arts lesson to every student at Taft and Oceanlake elementary schools -- an average of 650 students -- once a month through the school year.

The Art Explorations founder and head instructor, Krista Eddy, works with teachers and principals to create lessons that adhere to Oregon standards and teach concepts in arts literacy, integrated with each grade level curriculum. Through this program students gain creative confidence and problem-solving abilities; they feel heard through creative expression, and enjoy creating art at school. These learned skills enrich the lives of participating students and, by contact, the lives of their families. The program also supports the 35 teachers who are involved.

The Art Explorations program is supported by a generous two-year capacity-building grant by the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, the Braemar Charitable Trust, the Mark R. Sponenburgh Memorial Trust, and the members and donors of the Lincoln City Cultural Center. It works with the open-hearted partnership of the staff and administration of the Lincoln County School District. Thank you!

This program has been met with an extraordinary amount of enthusiasm by school staff and administrators as well as by the students. The students often cite the art classes as the best part of their school experience. Eddy has developed this curriculum in collaboration with teachers so that it integrates arts instruction with the subject matter of classroom lessons in an educational, fun, and engaging way.

This program is instrumental to the creative growth of our youth. We are always in need of funding, so if you’d like to donate please click the link below. Anything helps -- thank you!
