5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Over the past ten years, Oregon has established five marine reserves, beginning with Otter Rock and Redfish Rocks Marine Reserves in 2012. Cascade Head Marine Reserve is in our own backyard here in Lincoln City, and the remaining two reserves are at Cape Falcon and Cape Perpetua. Ten years later, the State is looking back at what we have learned and how to adapt the program going forward.

Dr. Lindsay Aylesworth will present the successes and challenges for the first ten years of the marine reserves program – learn how the reserves are meeting the goals of conserving marine habitats, maintaining biodiversity, and providing research opportunities, while also avoiding adverse impacts on ocean users and nearby communities. Dr. Lindsay is the newly appointed Marine Reserves Program Leader with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) based in Newport.

The evening will begin with a social hour featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages, followed by Dr. Lindsay Aylesworth’s presentation and a question-and-answer session. This event is free and open to the public.
