Erica Brookhyser sings Russian Songs

Sunday, April 26 2020 @ 2:00 pm

Erica Brookhyser has emerged as a formidable mezzo-soprano in the lyric and now the dramatic repertories. Her concert appearances include Moses und Aron with Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of James Levine, Blizzard Voices with BMOP under Gil Rose, Bach St. Matthew Passion and Mozart Mass in C-minor with the Cincinnati May Festival conducted by James Conlon, Das Lied von der Erde and Wesendonck Lieder with Orchester Staatstheater Darmstadt under the baton of Elias Grandy, and the Mahler Rückert Lieder with Newport Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adam Flatt.

“The dark chocolaty voice with that tinge of astringency that the melancholic Mahler requires. She effortlessly pierced his densest textures, and surfed the cresting orchestral waves with the thrilling brilliance of her upper register.” — Brian Hanna, Newport News Times

Erica Brookhyser is the final performance of the LCCC’s new 2019/20 Vocal Arts Series. Tickets are $25 general, $23 for seniors ages 60 and up, and $12 for youth ages 18 and under.
