Demonstration and Studio Tour

This afternoon, you’re invited into Lynne Wintermute’s working art studio, in Neskowin. She’ll discuss some of her recent work, and demonstrate how she’s been creating abstracted landscapes in oil and cold wax medium. Lynne teaches a variety of workshops throughout Oregon, including Beachstone Gallery (at the Artists Studio Association in Lincoln City) and the Sitka Center for Art & Ecology. She has a fine arts degree from Linfield College, and has done graduate work at the Pacific Northwest College of Arts. Lynne’s studio is on the LCCC’s Art on the Edge Studio Tour, which has been rescheduled. This video was recorded via FB Live on May 15, 2020. 

SBMF Mini Fest: Mei-Ting Sun

Over the past 10 years, Lincoln City audiences have come to hear and see Mei-Ting Sun, who launches festival concerts with exuberance and extraordinary ability. After winning several major competitions, including the first Piano-e competition and the National Chopin Competition of the US, Mei-Ting’s career has taken him throughout most of the US, Latin America, Asia, and Europe, at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Tonhalle in Zurich, and Obecni Dum in Prague. Now, like the rest of us, he’s stuck at home. For the Creative Quarantine, Mei Ting plays some of his favorite selections, and discuss his habit of posting a Beethoven sonata every day. This was recorded via a Facebook live performance from New York City on Saturday, May 9.

Thanks a bunch, COVID19. First you take the Festival of Illusions, then you steal our Celtic concerts. But did you have to cancel the 2020 Siletz Bay Music Festival? Sigh. If you’re feeling the pain already, we’ve got a small bandaid: festival musicians, playing live for the LCCC May 8-10. This mini-fest began with SBMF Artistic Director Yaacov Bergman, followed by jazz sets by Ken Peplowski (above) and Rossano Sportiello. This video was the beginning of a weekend full of Siletz Bay Music Festival performances, live from all over the country. Artistic Director Yaki Bergman started the show with a welcome from his living room. Up next in the jazz program was a solo set by Ken Peplowski.

Gwen Lahti

For Music Is Instrumental

Gwen Lahti is currently in her second year teaching music at Oceanlake Elementary here in Lincoln City. She has always been passionate about the arts, teaching theater in Los Angeles, Calif., and Dallas, Texas, for 10 years prior to her current teaching gig, and majoring in theater at Portland State University.

She has performed in many plays and musicals and has considered herself a singer/actress for most of her life. In addition, she currently serves as a board advisor for Music is Instrumental, a local non-profit that raises money for the music programs in Lincoln County schools. Playing the ukulele is her newest artistic pursuit. She has been studying the instrument for just under a year and this will be her first time performing as a singer while playing her own accompaniment. This concert was recorded via Facebook live from Gwen’s home in Lincoln City on April 21, 2020.
