Writing a Novel

From Start to Finish

Lecture, Workshop, and ‘Read & Critique’

Saturday, Aug 25    1pm – 2:30 pm

Whether you only have an idea, you’ve already started writing, or you’ve just finished your book, each class in this 3-week course has something to offer.

This 3-week course will cover the following:

First week: LECTURE (topic will change each month)
Learn about an aspect of writing and improve your skills. Character development, keeping up tension, avoiding “filler” words, etc.

Second week: WORKSHOP (come ready to write)
Prompts based on the lecture content will be provided to get your writing juices flowing.

Third week: READ AND CRITIQUE (bring in your own work)
You will read (or have someone else read) a sample of your WIP (work in progress). Then your peers and the instructor will give you the positives and critiques about your work.

FOR AUGUST:

Lecture: Knowing Your Characters: Personality, Dialogue, and Actions

• Sign up for one class or all three! Pricing is $20 per class or $50 for all three.
• Class space is limited. Please email Christa at [email protected] for available dates and to sign up.

The instructor, Christa Yelich-Koth, is an award-winning novelist and the editor of multiple national and international bestselling authors. She has been published since 2012, has been a professional editor since 2015, and has led workshops at the Southern California Writers Conference.
